Prusament filament data: print settings and printed-specimen tests from Prusa Polymers

Published October 15, 202622 sources

Short answer

Prusa Polymers publishes a three-page technical datasheet for each Prusament filament. It gives nozzle and bed temperatures as a center value with a tolerance (PLA: 210 ± 10 °C), a print speed ceiling, density, ISO 75 heat deflection at 0.45 and 1.80 MPa, and tensile, flexural and Charpy results from specimens printed on Prusa printers [9]. Most datasheets have no drying setting; those values come from a separate table in the Prusa Knowledge Base [22].

What a Prusament datasheet contains

Every Prusament datasheet follows the same layout. Page one identifies the material and the diameter tolerance, then lists recommended print settings: nozzle and heatbed temperature, print speed ceiling, part cooling fan percentage and suitable Prusa print sheets [9]. Page two holds material properties and printed-specimen test results; page three records the printer and slicer settings behind them [13].

Temperatures are written as a center value with a tolerance, for example a 250 ± 10 °C nozzle for PETG and a 110 ± 5 °C bed for ASA [13, 15]. The table on this page converts them to ranges (PETG: 240–260 °C). Diameter tolerance also varies by product: ±0.02 mm for PLA and PETG, ±0.04 mm for ASA and PC Blend Carbon Fiber, and ±0.06 mm for TPU 95A [9, 15, 17, 21].

Test standards and how the specimens were printed

The property rows name their methods. Density uses ISO 1183, melt flow uses ISO 1133, heat deflection uses ISO 75 at both 0.45 MPa and 1.80 MPa, tensile uses ISO 527-1, flexural uses ISO 178 and Charpy impact uses ISO 179-1 with an edgewise blow [9]. Three datasheets (PC Blend, PC Blend Carbon Fiber and PVB) list density under a Prusa Polymers in-house method instead of ISO 1183 [16, 17, 20]. TPU 95A is tested as an elastomer: tensile strength to ISO 37, compression set to ISO 815-1, abrasion to ISO 4649, plus a Vicat A softening point to ISO 306 [21].

All mechanical specimens are printed, not injection molded. The older sheets used an Original Prusa i3 MK3 or MK3S with 0.20 mm layers, two perimeters, no top or bottom layers and 100% rectilinear infill [9, 15]. The 2026 sheets for PLA High Speed and PA11 used a CORE One or CORE One+ with a 0.4 mm High-Flow CHT nozzle [11, 19]. Results are given for two print orientations, “Horizontal” and “Vertical xz” [9]; the filament table uses the horizontal value.

“Tensile Yield Strength for Filament” is measured on the filament strand, so PLA shows 57 MPa there but 51 MPa for horizontal printed specimens [9]. “Interlayer Adhesion” is a separate in-house test: 17 MPa for PLA and 41 MPa for PLA High Speed [9, 11]. The newer sheets also list a tensile strength anisotropy coefficient, defined as the ratio of Z to XY tensile strength: 0.6 for PLA High Speed and 0.84 for PA11 [11, 19]. The PLA High Speed page gives 0.33 for PLA and PC Blend and 0.38 for PETG [2].

Heat resistance across the line

Heat deflection at 1.80 MPa runs from 49.9 °C for unfilled PA11 to 152 °C for PA11 Carbon Fiber [19, 18]. Carbon fiber raises the figure for each base polymer: PETG goes from 68 °C to 80 °C, and PC Blend from 93 °C to 106 °C [13, 14, 16, 17]. PLA lists 55 °C at both loads [9]. TPU 95A publishes only the 1.80 MPa value (78.6 °C) and a Vicat A point of 101.6 °C [21].

On the PLA and ASA material pages, the “temperature resistance” figure matches the 0.45 MPa HDT: 55 °C and 93 °C [1, 3]. Annealed figures appear only on the material pages. PC Blend Carbon Fiber can reach 130 °C after annealing, and PA11 122.5 °C, while the PA11 datasheet lists 58.7 °C HDT at 0.45 MPa for specimens as printed [4, 5, 19].

Drying settings and spool limits

Of the 13 datasheets used here, only PVB mentions drying (60 °C maximum, 4–8 hours) [20]. The Prusa Knowledge Base keeps a drying table for Prusament instead: 45 °C for 6 hours for PLA and rPLA, 55 °C for 6 hours for all PETG versions, 80 °C for 4 hours for ASA, 85 °C for 5 hours for PC Blend and 90 °C for 6 hours for PA11 Carbon Fiber [22]. Its PVB row (45 °C, 8 hours) is lower than the datasheet maximum. Black spools made since October 2025 tolerate 90 °C; older black spools hold together only to 45 °C unless a screw of at least 65 mm joins the two sides [22].

The PC Blend Carbon Fiber page says it needs no drying before printing [4]. The TPU 95A guide says drying is usually unnecessary and suggests at least 4 hours at 60 °C when moisture causes problems [8]. The drying planner uses these values.

Speed and flow figures

Most datasheets give a ceiling of 200 mm/s. PLA High Speed lists 300 mm/s and requires a High-Flow (CHT) nozzle to reach it. PA11 Carbon Fiber lists 100 mm/s and TPU 95A 30 mm/s [13, 11, 18, 21]. Only the PA11 datasheet gives a maximum volumetric speed (10 mm³/s) [19]. For other products, see the volumetric speed calculator or run a max volumetric speed test.

Where the website and datasheets differ

The ASA page lists 260 ± 5 °C for the nozzle where the datasheet says 260 ± 10 °C [3, 15]. For PA11 Carbon Fiber the tolerances are reversed: the page says 285 ± 10 °C and the datasheet 285 ± 5 °C [6, 18]. The PVB page lists a 65–85 °C bed where the datasheet gives 75 ± 5 °C [7, 20]. The PC Blend Carbon Fiber page describes it as lighter than plain PC Blend, but both datasheets list 1.22 g/cm³ [4, 16, 17]. Several datasheets date from 2022, so check the PDF date when settings disagree.
